The Incredible Children’s Art Network (iCAN) will host the opening ceremony for its all-school Fall Art Show on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Faulkner Gallery in the Santa Barbara Public Library. As part of 1st Thursday, the event highlights the diverse talents of students in grades K-6.

“We are delighted to share our students’ remarkable talent with the Santa Barbara community,” said iCAN Teaching Artist, Shannon McCain Jaffe.  “Our students used multiple art mediums resulting in unforgettable pieces of art.”

Since its inception in 2005, iCAN has connected more than 2,200 Santa Barbara youth to comprehensive resources that help improve artistic, academic, and social abilities.  Schools participating in the art show include Adams Elementary School, Adelante Charter School, Franklin Elementary School, Harding University Partnership School, and McKinley Elementary School.

Through inspired teaching, high quality programming, and community exhibitions, iCAN encourages each Student Artist to develop as individual artists, refining their ability to think creatively, work collaboratively, and pursue excellence in all areas of their life.

The iCAN Fall Art Show welcomes parents, friends, Teaching Artists, and members of the community celebrate students’ creative achievements.  Guests can experience the iCAN collection on display at Faulkner Gallery through Thursday, November 29, 2012.

About iCAN:

The Incredible Children’s Art Network (iCAN) was founded on the belief that all young people should have access to quality arts learning opportunities and that the arts are essential to the social, emotional, and intellectual development of every child.

The mission of iCAN is to bring high quality arts programs to children in Santa Barbara County, particularly those least likely to receive them.
